Hand knitted woolen muffler S #156
by Indian Artisan
$80.00 / On Sale
This amazingly warm muffler was hand knitted by artisans living in the chilly Himalayan regions of India where people know how to keep warm.
Firstly, the wool was hand-spun and then dyed with lac, a sticky, resinous secretion of the tiny lac insect, Laccifer lacca, a species of scale insect. This insect is cultivated on Kusumbh and Tesu trees and has been used as a natural dye in South Asia and India since the beginning of recorded History.
The artisans receive fair wages for their work.
The muffler measures a generous 196cm long and is soft enough to wrap several times around the neck.
We only have one like this, so if you want it, race it to the checkout before it goes home with someone else.
